PUTRAJAYA, July 15 (Bernama) -- The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) today contributed 49,300 boxes of Hari Raya goodies, worth nearly RM500,000, for the country's security forces.
The Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor , who is Bakti president, said 20,000 boxes would be distributed to members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) on duty at the borders, 25,000 boxes to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the remaining for the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
Each box contained beef rendang, anchovy sambal, nasi impit and kuah kacang, she said at the presentation of the Hari Raya goodies to the security forces at Seri Perdana Complex today.
ATM was represented by its chief Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin, the police by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and MMEA by its director-general, Datuk Mohd Amdan Kurish.
In her speech, Rosmah praised members of the security forces for their sacrifices in defending the country's sovereignty.

She said their sacrifices were not confined to defending the country against the enemies, but also during time of peace where their role was to ensure a safe and peaceful life for the people.
"My hope is that these Hari Raya goodies provide them with the assurance that their sacrifices are always appreciated by the people," she added.
At the function, Rosmah also handed contributions of RM5,000 each to 10 policemen who were injured during the intrusion by terrorists in Lahad Datu and Semporna, Sabah.
