Bidvest Namibia Cup back in January

WINDHOEK, 16 DEC (NAMPA) - The third edition of the Bidvest Namibia Cup will commence on 09 January 2015.
The Namibia Football Association (NFA) said in a media statement on Tuesday that the cup will be launched on 20 January 2015 in Windhoek.
The final will take place on 30 May 2015 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.
Elimination rounds for the first and second divisions will take place on 09 and 10 January, and 16 to 17 January 2015 in the respective regions.
The NFA's Secretary-General Barry Rukoro was quoted as saying that the NFA anticipates an increase in interest in the competition compared to the past two years.
“This is a cup of dreams, and we know that every club has an equal chance of making it to the final on 30 May. We are surely looking forward to it,” he said.
The 2015 Bidvest Namibia Cup Competition Proper will feature 32 clubs, including the 16 Namibia Premier League teams.
The Round of 16 will be contested on 27 and 28 February, as well on 01 March 2015, with the quarterfinals set for the weekend of 27 to 29 March 2015.
African Stars Football Club (FC) are the defending champions of the cup, which they won for the first time in 2013 after beating Mighty Gunners FC 2-0, and this year after beating Citizens FC 3-2 on penalties.
African Stars walked away with N.dollars 550 000 in prize money, while the Man of the Match, Citizens’ Tjiwana-Tja Tjinotjiua, received N.dollars 5 000 in prize money.
This year's edition will include a “selfie” competition worth N.dollars 1 000 for five winners each, while some 3 000 fans could win gifts at the final.
