KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained lower at the end of the morning session today, dragged down by losses mostly seen in telecommunications companies, dealers said. At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) dropped 2.91 points to 1,782.74, with Axiata contributing 0.923 points to its decline. Axiata lost six sen to RM6.76 and Maxis was four sen lower at RM6.81.
Market breadth was negative, with 258 gainers and 319 losers, while 284 counters were unchanged, 715 untraded and 21 others suspended. Turnover stood at 516.329 million shares worth RM584.684 million.
On the scoreboard, the Plantation Index fell 37.89 points to 8,480.89 and the Industrial Index declined 4.88 points to 3,002.89, but the Finance Index improved 59.129 points to 17,051.28.
The FBM Emas Index fell 17.329 points to 12,407.98 and the FBMT 100 lost 19.92 points to 12,152.21, with the FBM 70 Index declining 23.689 points to 14,228.57, while the FBM ACE Index gained 18.11 points to 4,788.1. Among actives, China Stationery Ltd and China Stationery-WA improved half-a-sen each to 28.5 sen and seven sen respectively, while Luster Industries fell half-a-sen to 10 sen. As for the heavyweights, Maybank earned six sen for RM10.46, CIMB bagged five sen to RM8.37, but Sime Darby was flat at RM9.50.
