WINDHOEK, 12 DEC (NAMPA) – An epileptic taxi driver escaped a near-fatal accident along Independence Avenue on Friday morning.
The driver of a white Toyota Corolla taxi apparently suffered an epileptic attack and lost control over the vehicle. This resulted in it crossing a traffic island and driving straight into oncoming traffic, hitting a truck.
The accident happened on the bridge crossing over the B1 road near the Katutura State Hospital.
City Police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Gerry Shikesho informed Nampa here that the taxi driver blacked-out because of the epileptic seizure while driving in an easterly direction from town towards Katutura.
There were no passengers in the taxi.
The taxi driver sustained slight injuries and was taken to the Katutura State Hospital for further observation, while the truck driver escaped unhurt.
In another incident, a man on a scooter was hit by a white Audi in Windhoek West at the corner of Florence Nightingale and Pasteur Streeta just before 09h00 on Friday.
The rider sustained slight injuries, and was rushed to hospital by paramedics.
