Namibian netball team falls to South Africa at Z6

BULAWAYO, 10 DEC (NAMPA) - The Namibian netball team was defeated 59-19 by South Africa on Tuesday in the Zone Six Youth Games underway here.
Namibia is now placed fourth in the group of five teams behind log-leaders South Africa and second- placed Zimbabwe.
Botswana, who won their last game of the group competition against Swaziland on Wednesday, is placed one spot above Namibia.
The Namibians trailed the first quarter 5-11, and only attempted a comeback in the third quarter.
The third quarter was Namibia’s best half as they scored six points to end the quarter 15-44 in favour of Namibia’s southern neighbours.
The Namibians added four more points in the last quarter to end the game 19-59.
Speaking to Nampa after the game, Namibian netball team coach Michelle Brooks said the team will now look forward to playing Zimbabwe in their last game.
“The girls played a better game today than they did yesterday, but will now have to focus on playing Zimbabwe,” Brooks noted.
Namibia will now play Botswana for third position after playing Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
Namibia is also represented in football, athletics, tennis, boxing, swimming as well as Paralympics at the Zone Six Youth Games currently underway in Zimbabwe.
