KL SHARES TRADE LOWER AT MID-MORNING

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia traded lower at mid-morning today with losses seen in plantation counters, dealers said. At 11.01 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) fell 3.42 points to 1,782.23, after opening 3.73 points lower at 1,781.92 Sime Darby lost one sen to RM9.49, IOI Corp declined three sen to RM5.57 and Kuala Lumpur Kepong fell 18 sen to RM21.68. Market breadth was negative, with 208 gainers to 256 losers, while 254 counters were unchanged, 858 untraded and 21 others suspended. Turnover stood at 364.15 million shares worth RM338.67 million. Meanwhile, the Plantation Index fell 42.05 points to 8,476.73 and the Industrial Index declined 4.56 points to 3,003.21, but the Finance Index rose 51.439 points to 17,043.59.

The FBM Emas Index dipped 19.199 points to 12,406.11, the FBM 70 Index slipped 18.16 points to 13,455.73, the FBMT 100 Index lost 21.56 points to 12,150.57,and the FBM ACE Index gained 25.32 points to 4,795.31. Among actives, China Stationery Ltd improved one sen to 29 sen and China Stationery-WA rose half-a-sen to seven sen, while Luster Industries was flat at 10.5 sen.

As for heavyweights, Maybank earned four sen to RM10.44, CIMB gained four sen to RM8.36 but Axiata lost seven sen to RM6.75. -- BERNAMA AMY AS
