Man stabs girlfriend and kills her in hospital

A 19-YEAR-OLD woman who was admitted into a hospital at Outjo with stab wounds late on Saturday night, was reportedly knifed to death in hospital the following day by that same assailant - her boyfriend.
She was stabbed to death in the Outjo State Hospital where she was receiving treatment and still recovering from the stab wounds inflicted on her the previous night.
Otjozondjupa regional police public relations officer, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha, told Nampa yesterday that Wilhelmina Tsauses was stabbed to death in her hospital bed at around 15h30 on Sunday.
“Her next-of-kin have already been informed of her death,” said Mbeha.
She said Tsauses was first stabbed three times - on her head, neck and left arm - by her 20-year-old boyfriend at her family house in
Etoshapoort in Outjo on Saturday at about 23h00. The reason for the stabbing has not been established.
“Tsauses was taken to the Outjo State Hospital by the police, where she was admitted,” said Mbeha.
The police started searching for the suspect on Saturday night, but failed to locate him.
It is alleged that the suspect came to the hospital during visiting hours on Sunday afternoon, armed with a butcher's knife, and went to Tsauses' bed.
At around 15h30, Tsauses was heard screaming for help and when nurses rushed to her bed they found her bleeding profusely from a fresh deep stab wound to her chest, Mbeha said.
The suspect was allegedly seen running out of Tsauses' ward “at an amazing speed”. Tsauses died shortly afterwards.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon in the bushes behind Etoshapoort. He is expected to appear in the Outjo Magistrate's Court today. Police investigations continue. - Nampa
