OUTJO, 08 DEC (NAMPA) A 19-year-old woman admitted into a hospital at Outjo with stab wounds late Saturday night, was reportedly knifed to death in hospital the following day (Sunday) by that same assailant - her boyfriend.
She was apparently stabbed to death in the Outjo State Hospital where she was receiving medical attention and still trying to recuperate from the stab wounds of the previous night.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)s Otjozondjupa Regional Public Relations Officer, Warrant Officer Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Monday that Wilhelmina Tsauses was stabbed dead in her hospital bed at the Outjo State Hospital on Sunday at around 15h30.
Her next-of-kin are already informed of her death, said Mbeha.
Mbeha said Tsauses was first stabbed three times on her head, neck and left arm - by her 20-year-old boyfriend at her family house in Etoshapoort in Outjo on Saturday at about 23h00.
The cause of the stabbing was still unknown.
Tsauses was taken to the Outjo State Hospital by the police, where she was admitted for the three stab wounds that same Saturday night, said Mbeha.
The police started searching for the suspect that Saturday night, but he was nowhere to be found.
However, it is alleged that the suspect entered the Outjo State Hospital Sunday afternoon during visiting hours, armed with a butchers knife and looking for Tsauses.
At around 15h30, the defenceless Tsauses was heard screaming for help from her hospital bed.
Mbeha said the hospital nurses rushed to her bed to assist, and found her bleeding profusely from a fresh deep stab wound in her chest.
The suspect was allegedly seen exiting Tsauses medical room at an amazing speed.
Tsauses died shortly after the nurses came to her hospital bed.
The suspect was only arrested later that Sunday afternoon in the bushes behind Etoshapoort.
He is expected to appear in the Outjo Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police investigations continue.
