He said the Federal Government under the Barisan Nasional (BN) would continue to govern the country to the best of its ability so that holistic development as called for by Islam could be brought about.

Najib said in valuing the mandate given by the people to the BN under the leadership of Umno, propagation of Islam would be intensified and that the teachings and sanctity of Islam would be defended including the use of the word Allah.

"We will provide more opportunities in terms of education including Islamic education, more mosques throughout the country and (religious) facilities that are more confortable," he said.

And to appreciate the contributions of mosque and surau committees throughout the country, Najib said they would be given kain pelikat, kain jubah, telekung and zam-zam although their quantities might not be much.

At the function, Najib presented these items to Selangor Umno heads to be distributed to mosque and surau comittees throughout Selangor.



He also approved a request by the mosque's committee to build a multi-purpose hall for the public.

Najib together with the Umno leaders and more than 2,000 guests performed the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers at the mosque.

Also present were Selangor Umno deputy chief Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Selangor Umno information head Abdul Shukur Idrus, Kuala Selangor Umno head and Jeram assemblyman Datuk Amiruddin Setro, Kuala Selangor Member of Parliament Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim, Bukit Melawati assemblyman Jakiran Jacoma and Najib's Norashman Razak.
