Two rapes reported in Kavango East

WINDHOEK, 07 DEC (NAMPA) – Two cases of rape were reported to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango East Region over the past weekend.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Sergeant Slogan Matheus said during the Sunday media briefing here that a 19-year-old woman was raped by her uncle in Divundu on Saturday morning.
He said the 18-year-old suspect entered the victim’s room between 03h00 and 04h00 while she was asleep, and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The suspect has been arrested and is due to appear at the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
In Rundu, two men were arrested in connection with the rape of a 15-year-old girl in the Sauyema location on Saturday.
The incident occurred at around 22h00 when the suspects allegedly threatened the victim with a knife and panga, and forced her to have sexual intercourse with both of them.
The suspects, whose ages were not disclosed, are due to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
NamPol is also investigating two cases of culpable homicide in the same region after a white Mitsubishi Sedan vehicle bumped two pedestrians near the Rudolf Ngondo Primary School in the Donkerhoek location.
The incident occurred on Friday at about 22h30.
“One of the pedestrians, identified as Malungu Salatiery Nghiyandjebodi, 35, died at the scene of the accident, while the other pedestrian Esiloni Mweteko Mulungu, 19, died at the Rundu State Hospital,” Matheus said.
Both deceased’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations continue.
In a separate incident, Dikwi Kaveto, 28, died instantly after he was hit by a Lewis Stores’ delivery vehicle on the Mukwe village main road on Friday at about 18h30.
Kaveto’s next of kin have been informed and police investigations into the matter continue.
