Shilunga re-elected as Oshakati mayor

OSHAKATI, 06 DEC NAMPA) – Oshakati mayor Onesmus Shilunga was on Friday re-elected for the fourth consecutive year to be the political head of the town council for another year.
All other members of the Oshakati Town Council were re-elected during a ceremony presided over by magistrate Mika Namweya, who appealed to council members to serve in the interest of the community by attracting investors for economic growth and job opportunities.
Ndamononghenda Hamunyela remains the town’s deputy mayor; Gabriel Kamwanka also retained his position as the chairperson of the management committee of the town.
Other members of the three-member management committee are Johannes Shilongo (vice-chairperson) and Loise Shivilo.
The former mayor of the town, Katrina Shimbulu, and Ronny Petrus are ordinary members of the seven-member Oshakati Town Council.
Six members of the town council are from the ruling Swapo-Party, apart from Petrus who is serving on the ticket of the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP).
