KUALA BESUT, July 14 (Bernama) -- Political parties contesting in the Kuala Besut state by-election must have police permits even for the so-called mobile campaigns at Ramadan bazaars and other public places.
Besut Police chief Supt Kamaruddin Mohd Zakaria said today these permits would enable the police to ensure that the campaigns were carried out orderly and safely.
He was asked to comment on a social media report which questioned whether the mobile election campaigns at Ramadan bazaars were being conducted with police permission.
On party flags and posters, which were being put up in earnest, Kamaruddin said these should not be hung up at government buildings or on those for which the owners had not given any permission.
"Flags, posters and banners put up at road intersections should not obstruct the view of road users," he said.

Kamaruddin also advised the people not to be influenced by the rumours spread by certain quarters to scare them.
He said the people could contact the police at their operations room (tel: 09-6950595) round the clock to verify any information.
