KUALA TERENGGANU, July 13 (Bernama) -- Three friends were injured when a bag of 'mercun bola' (firecrackers) owned by one of them suddenly exploded in Kampung Batu Buruk, here, yesterday afternoon.
In the 5pm incident, two teenage boys aged 13 and 14 were seriously injured while the other, a 12-year-old boy, only suffered minor injuries.
One of them said the firecrackers placed in the plastic bag suddenly started "smoking" and he didn't managed to throw it away before the substance exploded and injured him and his two friends.
"They were old firecrackers," said the 12-year-old when met at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) here today.
Checks by Bernama at the hospital found the 14-year-old boy was treated at the burns unit due to severe burns on his face and his condition was reported stable.
