WINDHOEK, 28 NOV (NAMPA) - An electronic voting machine (EVM) was accidentally broken by a voter at the University of Namibia (Unam) polling station here on Friday morning. Windhoek West Constituency Returning Officer, John Jantjies confirmed the incident to Nampa, saying the voter thought the wall of a voting booth was a door and pulled it open, resulting in the electronic voting machine falling onto the floor. The unit was replaced within 30 to 40 minutes. Jantjies said votes cast prior to the unit breaking were not affected. This is the second voting machine to break, following one on which a button was damaged by a voter during the voting process for sea-going personnel in the Erongo Region on 14 November this year.
