Omusati dispatches election materials to polling stations

OUTAPI, 27 NOV (NAMPA) – Officials at the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) in the Omusati Region have managed to deploy its election materials and polling officials to all 12 electoral constituencies by mid-day on Thursday.
ECN Regional Coordinator Leonard Ndazapo told Nampa on Thursday that the election officials have dispatched most the non-sensitive materials to some polling stations on Wednesday already.
He said the process of dispatching all electronic voting machines (EVMs) and deployment of polling officials have started at 06h00 and concluded at 12h00 on Thursday.
Ndazapo said all the teams have arrived well at their respective stations and were expected to be ready by 06h00 on Friday.
The loading of all EVMs and other election materials was done from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry offices at Outapi under the watchful eyes of police officers, political party agents and polling officials of the specific constituencies.
Two vehicles per constituency were allocated to transport all the materials to the constituency offices before being taken to polling stations in the constituency.
The region has a total of 1 500 polling officials who will operate at 235 polling stations – 176 are fixed and 59 mobile teams.
The region has a population of 135 693 registered voters, of which 82 541 are women while 53 152 are men.
