Govt. official allegedly raped girl, 15

OPUWO, 27 NOV (NAMPA) Control Inspector for Kunene Region in the Ministry of Works and Transport, Josua Rukoro made his first appearance in the Opuwo Magistrates Court Tuesday on two charges of rape, corruption and committing an immoral act.
The 53-year-old senior government official, who is the lead person representing his ministrys works department in the Kunene Region, was arrested on Monday at Opuwo for the alleged crimes.
It is alleged that Rukoro raped a 15-year-old school girl, who has been under his care at the time, on different occasions.
According to the state prosecutor in the case, Obert Masendeke the two charges of rape was as a result of alleged rape acts at two different places.
The accused is also charged with committing an immoral act with a person under the age of 16.
The corruption charge was brought forth as it is alleged that Rukoro used a government vehicle when he took the girl to the bush for the alleged forceful activities.
It is claimed that the young girl was adopted by Rukoro in 2013 after she was introduced to him by her schoolmate - a daughter of Rukoro.
The girl is in Grade 9 at the Putuavanga Secondary School.
Rukoros case was postponed to 08 December this year to allow him to apply for bail.
He indicated in court that he will engage the services of a private lawyer.
Magistrate Lena Iyambo presided in the matter.
