SHAH ALAM, July 13 (Bernama) -- The Pertubuhan Solidariti Madani Malaysia (MaSSSA) convoy embarked on a week-long mission to promote universal peace from Malaysia to Thailand today.
MaSSSA chairman Mustapa Mansor said the convoy, dubbed 'Road 4 Peace' and comprised 20 participants on three four-wheel-drive and two multipurpose vehicles, would travel from here to Penang before heading to Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah, Danok Yala and Pattani on Sunday.
The convoy, the first in its series, is also participated by members of non-governmental organisations from Indonesia and Thailand, he told reporters after the flagging off of the participants by Selangor Islamic Affairs, Agriculture Modernisation and Rural Development Committee chairman Sallehin Mukhyi at the State Mosque here today.
Mustapa said from Pattani, the convoy would proceed to Chumporn, Bangkok and would try to enter Myanmar via Measot, but it would depend on approval by the Myanmar authority.

"The convoy's mission is to promote universal peace by offering humanitarian aid in conjunction with the blessed month of Ramadan, reaching out to the Muslim community there and breaking fast with them.
"This is also aimed at creating awareness among Asean member countries about the oppression faced by the Muslim minority in southern Thailand and Arakan, Myanmar," he said.
Mustapa said donations for the mission could be channeled directly to Maybank account number 5642-2162-8786 on the name of Pertubuhan Soladiriti Madani Malaysia.
