Whk man appears in court after shooting another over money

WINDHOEK, 15 JUL (NAMPA) - A 46-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed another man during an argument over money at a Katutura bottle store over the weekend, briefly appeared in the Magistrate's Court here on Monday.
Alleged killer Joshua Hitwamata appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate's Court along Mungunda Street in Katutura on a charge of murder and his case was postponed to 11 September this year as police investigations into the matter were still at an initial stage.
Hitwamata was also today refused an option to post bail after Public Prosecutor Anthony Wilson refused the granting of bail, citing the seriousness and the complexity of the charge the accused faces.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson, Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi told a media briefing here on Sunday Hitwamata allegedly shot and killed Nathanael Showa during a heated argument between the two over money obtained from a gambling machine.
The incident occurred on Friday night at around 22h30 at Stop & Shop bottle store in the Okuryangava residential area.
According to Shikwambi, the 33-year-old deceased was shot five times, and died on the spot.
Immediately after the alleged killing, accused Hitwamata handed himself over to the police at the Wanaheda Police Station and was arrested.
