Pedestrian dies in road accident at Oshifukwa

ONGWEDIVA, 20 NOV (NAMPA) – A pedestrian died near Omuthiya after being hit by a car while crossing the road on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as 47-year old Bleam Ananias.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Omuthiya have opened a culpable homicide docket, after a BMW 530i bumped the pedestrian in the area on Wednesday.
The Deputy Regional Commander of NamPol in the Oshikoto Region, Deputy Commissioner William Peter confirmed this to Nampa on Thursday.
Peter said the accident occurred at Oshifukwa Cuca Shop some 10km from Omuthiya Town towards Ondangwa at about 21h15.
According to Peter, the driver of the BMW with a registration plate N29148SH was travelling from Omuthiya at the time of the accident.
Ananias died on the spot.
“We sincerely urge members of the public to be careful when crossing the roads,” Peter urged.
Ananias' next of kin have been informed about his death.
