WINDHOEK, 14 NOV (NAMPA) - The Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) First Division League will this weekend host games in Windhoek, Rundu, Katima Mulilo, Grootfontein and Outjo.
The league, which is divided into three divisions - the North-West, North-East and Southern Stream First Division leagues kicked off at the beginning of the month.
In the opening week, Southern Stream teams played their games in the southern towns of Keetmanshoop, Karasburg, Mariental, and Rehoboth, but this coming weekend all their games will be played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
The North-West First Division games will be played at Tsandi, Ogongo, Outjo and Grootfontein, while the North-East First Division games will be played in Rundu, Divundu and Katima Mulilo.
Speaking to Nampa on Friday, the Namibia Premier League (NPL)s Southern Stream First Division administrator Mervin Geiriseb said the league kicked off on a positive note and the teams are all ready to compete this season.
Teams are really prepared this season, even those that just got promoted picked up points. In the Southern Stream we only recorded three red cards over the weekend, which shows how players and referees have improved their game.
This weekend we are expecting all teams to come with the same enthusiasm they showed in the opening games, Geiriseb said.
He added that in the Sourthern Stream league, teams promoted from the second division last season like Kaizen Football Academy and Flamingo registered good points, but teams that have been in the first division league for a long time like Spoilers, Windhoek United and Desert Rollers all failed to collect points.
This weekends games will be played on Saturday and Sunday.
