WINDHOEK, 09 NOV (NAMPA) Two minor girls, both eight-years-old, were allegedly raped by an Angolan national on different occasions at Otjiu, in the Opuwo district of the Kunene Region.
According to Namibia Police (NamPol) spokesperson, Sergeant Slogan Mateus, the incident was discovered on Friday when one of the minors informed her mother about the sexual act after experiencing persistent pains.
It is alleged that the suspect invited each of the two minor girls into his bedroom on different days,were he had sexual intercourse with them.
The suspect is employed as a gardener and house help at the house next to where the children lived.
According to the police, the children would play at their neighbours' house with other children on different occasions.
The male suspect, 44, was arrested and is due to appear at Opuwo Magistrate court on Monday.
In an unrelated incident, a 14-year old girl was also raped while on her way to school, allegedly by a member of the Namibian Defence Force who was on sick leave by the time of the rape incident.
Mateus said the rape took place at Omundjalala village, in the Anamulenge Constituency of the Omusati Region.
It is alleged that the suspect approached the girl, grabed her by the neck and laid her on the ground where he had sexual intercourse without her consent.
The suspect, 26, is already arrested and is due to appear at Outapi Magistrate Court on Monday.
