RUNDU, 04 NOV (NAMPA) - The Kavango Trade Fair and Agricultural Show kicked off at Rundu on Tuesday, with over 250 exhibitors participating.
The six-day trade fair, which is being held under the theme ‘Promoting Regional Development for Sustainable and Economic Transformation’, ends on Sunday.
Kavango Trade Fair promoter Peter Immanuel told Nampa on Tuesday that this year’s fair is bigger and better as there are more than 250 exhibitors, compared to the 130 who participated last year.
It is being held at the Kavango Trade Centre, a multi-million-dollar complex constructed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry for the hosting of trade fairs in the region.
According to Immanuel, this year’s fair is also unique because they have introduced awards for the best exhibitors.
Also on the programme is the Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) five-kilometre marathon for any individuals wishing to participate, as well as business presentations and livestock auctioning.
Winners in the marathon will walk away with medals, T-shirts and several other prizes.
Several goods such as arts and crafts, and services such as those offered by corporate companies and government institutions are on display here.
The Kavango Trade Fair and Agricultural Show is expected to be officially opened by Trade and Industry Minister Calle Schlettwein on Thursday, an event which will also be witnessed by the governor of Angola’s Cuando-Cubango Province, Ernesto Fernando.
The main sponsor of this year’s trade fair is Standard Bank Namibia, which availed N.dollars 70 000 towards the event.
