Junias Jonas scoops sports achiever award

WINDHOEK, 01 NOV (NAMPA) – Commonwealth silver medallist, Junias Jonas has claimed the prestigious title of Namibia’s Sportsman and Sports Achiever of the Year.
Jonas was named Namibia’s best at a glittering awards ceremony hosted by the Namibian Sports Commission (NSC) here on Friday to honour the country’s sports personalities for their achievements throughout the year.
The 20-year-old Commonwealth silver medallist beat the likes of Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, Immanuel Naindjala, Dan Craven and Stephanus Marais to the accolade, pocketing a cool N.dollars 200 000 in the process.
Jonas also won the award for ‘Sportsman of the Year’, which came with prize monies of N.dollars 100 000.
Collectively, he pocketed N.dollars 300 000 on the night.
Cyclist Vera Adrian was crowned the ‘Sportswoman of the Year’ – an award which carried a cash prize of N.dollars 100 000.
