The meeting will discuss policy direction and exchange views with participants to strengthen Thailand’s preparedness towards the Asean Community by 2015. On a separate note, Thailand will host an East Asia Summit (EAS) Regulatory Roundtable and a Workshop on Enhancing Connectivity through Multi-layered Regional Frameworks: The Role of Dialogue Partners on July 18 and 19.
The roundtable on July 18 will be jointly co-hosted with New Zealand, aimed at concretising the EAS Declaration on Asean Connectivity adopted by EAS leaders at the 6th EAS in Bali in November 2011.
The workshop to be held on July 19, aims to review the role of Asean’s dialogue partners in promoting connectivity under the various regional frameworks. It also explores possible ways on how to enhance dialogue partners’ involvement and contributions, and come up with policy recommendations on addressing obstacles in enhancing regional connectivity.
