KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 (Bernama) -- Aidilfitri may be weeks away but for some 45 children from the An-Najjh Malaysia Orphanage and Pusat Pertuturan Kiu (PPK), they had an "early" Aidilfitri cheer when they received "duit raya" at a charity reception hosted by Prince Hotel & Residence, last night. The children were also feted to a sumptuous 'buka puasa' dinner where over 100 local dishes were specially put together by the chefs at Eccucino, the hotel's all day dining restaurant. Hotel General Manager, Tim Quarm, said each year the hotel embarked on various charitable causes as part of its efforts in giving back to the community and this year the hotel collaborated with renowned Malaysian singer Dayang Nurfaizah for an evening of music and entertainment for the children. Dayang Nurfaizah, well known for her involvement in community projects, said every year she looked forward to the month of Ramadan where she could spend quality time and entertain the children. The children, pretty in pink, were indeed thrilled with the sumptuous food and having Dayang Nurfaizah entertain them.

Zaima Abu Bakar, 13, who stays with her younger sister at the An-Najjh orphanage, said the early Ramadan treat was a fun event to attend with her other friends. "I am delighted to be able to gather with my friends. At the same time I am very happy to meet Dayang. This is the first time I am attending the event," said Zaima, who enjoyed ice-cream the most at the buffet. For Muhd Azrie Masiran, 17, who has been in An-Najjh for the last four years, he always looked forward to such an event during Ramadan. "Every time such events come around, I will be able to taste food that I am not able to eat before. Like today I tried sushi and it was delicious," said Azrie who hopes to become a chef one day. --BERNAMA NSL FR JRL
