Keetmanshoop woman allegedly kills boyfriend

KEETMANSHOOP, 20 OCT (NAMPA) – A 22-year-old woman made her first appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of murdering her boyfriend.
Sylvia Esau allegedly stabbed Carlos Dirkse, 34, with a sharp object at the home they shared in the Tseiblaagte residential area Friday night.
According to Chief Inspector Bennie Groenewald of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), the couple had allegedly been consuming alcohol on the day of the incident.
They reportedly quarrelled and had engaged in a physical fight.
Dirkse was apparently engaged in a conversation with a friend in front of the house between 21h00 and 22h00that night when Esau allegedly approached him and stabbed him in the chest once.
He died in hospital after midnight.
Esau remains in custody while the case is being investigated.
