WINDHOEK, 14 OCT (NAMPA) - The DTA of Namibia on Tuesday unveiled Immanuel Benestes Auchomub is its candidate for the upcoming Windhoek West Constituency by-election slated for 14 November this year.
Introducing Auchomub during a media conference in the capital on Tuesday, DTA Secretary General (SG) Vincent Kanyetu expressed confidence in their candidate.
Auchomub, a teacher by profession, has been a member of the DTA and served in the party’s youth league.
Kanyetu said their candidate will focus on making the Western Bypass (B1) a safer road for all road users, specifically those residents of Windhoek who use the road to commute to and from work.
“This is because this roadway presents a significant danger to those who travel on it, as is witnessed by the high number of vehicle accidents and fatalities recorded on it annually,” he said.
The extension of the Western Bypass into a dual carriage roadway is one measure that Auhomub will explore and advocate, particularly increasing its carrying capacity which could reduce the need for reckless driving.
On his part, Auchomub promised to fight crime in that area by advocating and consulting with the residents on ways to fight crime.
He added that he will also tackle the mushrooming of shebeens which cause noise pollution in that area.
