CORRECTION: Ninth African women's football champs kick off

CORRECTING SCORE IN FIFTH PARA FROM 2-1 TO 2-0.

WINDHOEK, 11 OCT (NAMPA) - The 2014 TN Mobile Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Championship officially kicked off in the capital on Saturday.
The well-attended opening ceremony of the ninth edition of the championship at the Sam Nujoma Stadium included entertainment by local artists as well as learners from different schools in Windhoek who were trained by the Equipped Dancing Academy.
The opening event took 30 minutes.
The first game of the championship kicked off at 17h00 between Namibia’s Brave Gladiators and Zambia’s Shepolopolo.
By half-time, Namibia was leading 2-0.
Ivory Coast and Nigeria will lock horns at the same venue at 20H00.
Prime Minister, Dr Hage Geingob also attended the official opening with a CAF delegation.
The starting 11 Gladiators are: Lydia Eixas, Uerikondjera Kasaona (captain), Lena Noreses, Thomalina Adams, Zenatha Coleman, Elmarie Fredericks, Rita Williams, Stacy Naris, Lorraine Jossob, Memory Jossob and Lovisa Mulunga.
The Shepolopolo 11 are: Grace Zulu, Ethel Chama, Susan Banda, Misozi Zulu, Hellen Mubanga, Noria Sosala, Kabange Mupopo (captain), Esther Mukwasa, Annie Kibandji, Hazel Nali and Emelda Musonda.
