KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- Visa has made it easier for Malaysian cardholders to receive payments from families or friends in Singapore with the launch of Visa Personal Payments (VPP).
In a statement today, Visa country manager (Malaysia), Stuart Tomlinson, said Malaysians living in Singapore could now send money to any Malaysian with a DBS/POSB bank account in Singapore without the need to visit a bank branch or wait in long queues at remittance offices.
"Just by knowing the recipient's name and their 16-digit Visa card number, Malaysians in Singapore can send money to the their friends or families of Visa debit, credit and Visa prepaid cardholders through DBS Bank (Singapore)," he said.
He said the VPP will meet an unfulfilled need for Malaysians working abroad by offering a secure and fast transfer of money within a matter of minutes.
"As Malaysia's economy is significantly boosted by foreign remittances coming from different countries, we are expanding our person-to-person payments solutions to provide Malaysians working abroad a more reliable, convenient and efficient alternative," he said. -- BERNAMA
