WINDHOEK, 06 OCT (NAMPA) - The Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP)s president says his party is ready to take Namibians out of poverty and into a better future once elected into power.
Hidipo Hamutenya said this whilst addressing the selected 53 RDP election commissioners tasked with finalising the last leg of the party's preparations for the 2014 general elections during a one-day workshop in the capital on Saturday.
A statement issued by the party on Monday quoted Hamutenya as saying his party will once elected into power, also do away with the current skewed allocation of the country's natural resources.
The RDP president particularly lambasted the alleged irresponsible allocation of the country's wealth by the current Swapo-Party-led governments leaders, saying should his party be elected into power, it will ensure that all Namibians, irrespective of their political party affiliations, actively take part in deciding their destiny.
Namibia goes to the polls to elect a new president and new members of the National Assembly on 28 November this year.
According to Hamutenya, his party will further the promotion of equality of people at all levels of society by developing the desired skills in order to help Namibians share in the country's abundant wealth and resources on an equal basis.
I call upon you to carry on my behalf a message of harmony, dedication and hard work to every household within Namibia, and to share with the Namibian people that I have scheduled many visits to most of their immediate surroundings during the next few weeks, during which I will share a story with everyone, he stated.
He also called on his election commissioners to reassure the nation on his behalf that he is still here where he has been all along, and that he is ready to accept the mandate of the RDP to lead the nation into a better future for all.
The election commissioners and other leaders of the opposition party have during the past weekend been busy designing various party activities for the remaining days of this month.
The planned activities include the RDP presidential visits to different corners of the country, as well as a series of meetings and debates.
