WINDHOEK, 01 OCT (NAMPA) - Th DTS Sports Club is ready to stage their third annual youth football tournament.
The tournament is scheduled to take place at the clubÂ’s Olympia premises in the capital on Saturday.
The maiden edition of the youth tournament was held in October 2012.
A media statement availed to Nampa by the sports club on Monday said Kia Motors is once again on board as the main sponsor.
They donated N.dollars 5 000 for the one-day event.
Six teams have confirmed their participation, being Swallows Football Club (FC); Ramblers FC; Sports Klub Windhoek (SKW); Otjiwarongo FC; Swakopmund FC and hosts DTS.
Up-and-coming players from the Under-7, U-9, U-11, and U-13 age divisions, with eight to 10 teams in each category, will battle it out for silverware.
The statement said the U-13 category will offer spectators something special as these players will not play on the football pitch, but in the multi-purpose hall alongside it.
The hall is mainly used for inline hockey and volleyball, and the smaller playing field - in conjunction with special rules - will add a special flair to the tourney.
Another unique feature of the tournament is the fact that every player will receive a medal, irrespective of their position.
The winning teams will walk away with gold medals; while the second-placed teams will receive silver and the third-placed team will get bronze.
