KL SHARES HIGHER IN MIDMORNING TRADE

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) --Bursa Malaysia traded higher at mid-morning today on strong buying seen in heavyweights led by consumer stocks, dealers said.

At 11.10 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 10.91 points to 1,779.62, after opening 7.84 points better at 1,766.55.

Market breadth was positive, with 313 gainers and 215 losers, while 256 counters were unchanged, 793 untraded and 16 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 419.65 million shares worth RM519.53 million.

On the scoreboard, the Plantation Index rose 42.67 points to 8,428.21, the Industrial Index gained 11.78 points to 2,999.75, the Finance Index rose 56.25 points to 16,952.94, and the FBM Emas Index improved 62.17 points to 12,385.07. The FBM 70 Index increased 26.77 points to 14,204.22 and the FBM ACE Index rose 6.36 points to 4,743.09. Among actives, EA Holdings and Flonic added half-a-sen each to 13.5 sen and 9.5 sen respectively, while Tenaga Nasional gained 13 sen to RM8.62.

As for the heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM10.42, CIMB earned five sen to RM8.28 and Axiata gained 14 sen to RM6.80. -- BERNAMA
