WINDHOEK, 21 SEP (NAMPA) – A 61-year-old man was denied bail when he appeared in the Okahao Magistrate’s Court on Friday on charges of raping a minor girl at Okatshiidhi Village in the Omusati Region.
Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson Sergeant Slogan Matheus at the weekly crime briefing on Sunday said the case was postponed until 31 October 2014 for further investigation.
It is alleged that the suspect, Immanuel Petrus, who is the neighbour of the 10-year-old victim, called her to his cattle post where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her. The girl was left in the care of neighbours, and when she did not show up at home after school they went looking for her.
They managed to track her footprints to the suspect’s cattle post.
In a separate incident at Outapi, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two men on Wednesday. The incident took place at around 22h00 at Shakaka Shebeen. The two suspects aged 32 and 40 were arrested and are set to appear in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The men reportedly pulled the woman behind the shebeen and demanded money from her. When they could not find any, they allegedly took turns to have sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
