RA signs agreement with SMEs for road construction

WINDHOEK, 19 SEP (NAMPA) - The Roads Authority (RA) has signed an agreement with local company Emirates Trading for the construction of section two of the Amwaanda to Omatambo-Maowe district road in the Omusati Region.
The N.dollars 54,7 million project is fully-financed by the government.
Signing the agreement on behalf of the RA here on Thursday, RA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Conrad Lutombi explained that the construction of section one of the same road, District Road 3635, from Amwaanda to Olumpelengwa commenced on 25 June 2014.
It is expected to be completed by December 2015.
Section two of the road (Olumpelengwa to Omatambo-Maowe) is approximately 47.7 kilometres (km) long.
Lutombi noted that Emirates Trading is the main plant contractor on this project, and will partner with Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) like Dynamite Contractors and Gems Engineering and Road Construction for the earthworks and concrete works, respectively.
The construction of this road is expected to create job opportunities for 150 men and women within the project area.
