MEDAL HOPES SINK IN THE POOL AS DIVERS, SWIMMERS FAIL TO SPLASH

KAZAN, (Russia), July 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's barren medal run in the 27th World University Games (Universiade) continued when National divers and swimmers failed to win any medals in today's action.

Jasmine Lai Pui Yee and Ooi Tze Liang who competed in the women's 3m Springboard and men's 10m platform respectively, failed to finish among the top three.

Jasmine Lai managed only 10 position in a field of 12 divers with 216.40 points while Ooi managed eighth place in a field of 12 divers with 381.00 points.

There was also disappointment in the swimming pool when National swimming ace Daniel Bego who competed in the men's 400m Freestyle, Chui Lai Kwan and Chan Kah Yan (women's 50m Butterfly); Ian Leondy Bell (men's 50m Butterfly) and Yap See Tuan (men's 100m Breastroke) were eliminated in the early rounds.
