KUALA TERENGGANU, July 10 (Bernama) -- QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd (QBMHSB) requires some four million chickens per month to be marketed through its business chains namely KFC restaurants, Pizza Hut, Rasa Mas and Kedai Ayamas nationwide.
QBMHSB General Manager, Shariah and Halal Compliance Department, Roslan Saluddin said about 80 per cent to 85 per cent of the chickens were supplied by its own contract farmers throughout the country while between 15 per cent and 20 per cent were bought from the open market.
"We certainly need a lot of chickens as well as quality chickens every month for our chain of shops and restaurants under QSR Brands nationwide," he said.
He said this at the ceremony to hand-over QSR Brands' business zakat totalling
RM110,334 to the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (Maidam) here today.
QSR Brands Chief Financial Officer Sheik Sharufuddin Sheik Mohd presented the cheque to Terengganu Islamic Affairs Commissioner Datuk Rozali Salleh.
Meanwhile, Roslan said with the continuous support from residents in the state, a new five-star KFC restaurant under the drive thru concept, and the first in Terengganu, will be opened in Gong Badak this year.
"The investment and opening of the drive thru restaurant is a recognition besides improving the image of Kuala Terengganu to be on same standard as other big towns in line with the significant increase in the economic status and standard of living of the residents," he said.
In Terengganu, QSR Brands now owns 11 KFC and six Pizza Hut outlets and one outlet each for Pizza Hut Delivery, Kedai Ayamas and RasaMas.
He said the company's chicken-based products are also available in supermarkets and hypermarkets nationwide.
Apart from that, QSR Brands also produces chilli and tomato sauce and a variety of food pastes under the Life brand.
