MTC launches 'Megabyte Mania' campaign

WINDHOEK, 09 SEP (NAMPA) – Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has launched a campaign which involves a 90 per cent reduction in the cost of data.
A media statement issued by MTC’s Chief Human Capital and Corporate Affairs Officer, Tim Ekandjo on Monday said the ‘Megabyte Mania’ campaign was launched after midnight on 08 September this year for all MTC customers.
As part of the campaign, which ends on 02 October 2014, customers will be charged only 10 cents per megabyte (MB), which represents a 90 per cent discount from the standard price.
The campaign is available to all MTC customers, pre-paid and post-paid, on all packages except the Netman Unlimited and Netman Time packages, which do not have out-of-bundle charges.
“Very critical, the campaign will not be applicable to roaming customers. You therefore have to be on the MTC network,” he said.
Customers do not need to register for the campaign as the out-of-bundle rate of 10 cents will automatically kick in once the normal in-bundle data is depleted.
Ekandjo noted that the company hopes to motivate customers to use data on their smartphones via the campaign.
“The uptake of data has been amazing over the past two years as a result of the tremendous investment by MTC in this area which represents more than 75 per cent of the total investment for the last year,” he said.
