Swapo Electoral College continues today

The ruling Swapo Party Electoral College continued this morning with the party expected to chose the next batch of leaders who will represent them in the next parliament.

The Electoral College also known as the pot sees 214 delegates from the regions, standing parliamentarians, central committee, wings and affiliates converging at Safari Court this morning to chose their leaders.

The ruling party will eventually chose 96 potential parliamentarians depending on how many seats they will win in the next election. The 96 will also be joined by the presidential nominees.

This will be the first time the ruling party will have 96 party candidates on the list to parliament after approval of the extended number of parliamentarians in the next August house.

Yesterday when the college was opened President Hifikepunye Pohamba called for fair and respectful campaigning from candidates in line with the Swapo party constitution and revised guidelines for elections.
