OTJIWARONGO, 27 AUG (NAMPA) – A 43-year-old man at Okondjatu in the Okakarara Constituency allegedly hanged himself with a rope inside his house on Tuesday evening, shortly after talking to his girlfriend.
The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Joseph Anghuwo told Nampa on Wednesday that the deceased has been identified as Emil Tjonaa Kuhanga from the Ombora village.
His next of kin have been already informed.
The deceased and his girlfriend - whose age is unknown - allegedly had a peaceful talk before the suicide.
“It is alleged that Kuhanga and his girlfriend never quarrelled on Tuesday,” Anghuwo explained.
He said Kuhanga only told his girlfriend before walking away that evening that he was going to kill himself, but did not state any reasons.
Anghuwo said the woman also informed her father about the deceased’s suicidal tone, who then followed him to his house, where he was found already hanging from the roof.
Kuhanga worked as a shop attendant in the same area.
“He did not leave behind any suicide note,” Anghuwo said, adding that police investigations are continuing. Okondjatu is situated over 200 kilometres south-east of Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region.
