PETALING JAYA, July 9 (Bernama) -- Tesco Stores Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Tesco Malaysia) is spending RM300,000 during the holy month of Ramadhan beginning tomorrow, via its Kasih Ramadhan programme.

The programme, now in its third consecutive year, aims to give back to the community and the underprivileged, and the highlight is the Bubur Lambuk on Wheels (Bubur Lambuk Bergerak) flag-off by Tesco Malaysia chief executive officer Georg Fischer.

"Our truck will stop at 22 Tesco stores in the country as well as police stations, fire brigade stations and various charity organisations beginning today until Aug 3.

"Over 55,000 packets of Bubur Lambuk are expected to be given out during this period," he told the media after the programme's launch today.

Tesco also invited children from four charity homes, including Yayasan Chow Kit, Pertubuhan Rahoma Darul Fakir Malaysia and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Yatim/Miskin Rukaiyah, to take part in the Sahur Charity Sweep challenge.

The game requires the children to grab any groceries according to the amount of money that they are given, with the winning team bringing back the groceries they manage to grab as their preparation for the holy month.
