POLICE NAB SUSPECTED HOUSE BREAK-IN GANG, INCLUDING TEENAGE GIRL

MUAR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Police arrested four men and a teenage girl, believed to be members of a gang involved in several house break-in and car-theft cases, in a raid on a house in Jalan Salleh here yesterday.

Muar police chief ACP Azman Ayob said during the 6am raid, the men, aged between 20 and 30, and the 16-year-old girl, were found high on drugs.

"Police also seized a Proton Waja car, which was reported stolen in Melaka early this year, six mobile phones and one unit of laptop computer worth over RM70,000.

"Also found in the house were various house break-in tools, including an axe, four machetes, a pry bar, besides three credit cards and a fake driving licence," he told reporters here today.

Azman said police also found four sachets containing syabu and 10 Eramin Five pills in the house.

He said police believed the arrests would help solve four robbery and theft cases in here and Melaka.

Azman said efforts were being done to track down other members of the gang at large.

The five suspects, including the girl, who is a school drop-out, had been remanded until July 16 to facilitate investigation under the Penal Code and the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
