Prime Minister meets Swapo leaders in Erongo Region

SWAKOPMUND, 25 AUG (NAMPA) – Swapo Party Vice-President, Dr Hage Geingob on Saturday held a meeting with the ruling party’s regional leadership in Erongo Region.
The one-day meeting discussed election campaigns, the 50/50 gender representation in all of the party structures and the proposed amendments to the Namibian Constitution.
“The Founding Father (Dr Sam Nujoma) and President Hifikepunye Pohamba have already laid the foundation for our country’s economy. Now is the time for us to continue the struggle for economic freedom,” Geingob told the meeting during the opening session.
As the Swapo Party’s candidate for the Presidential elections later this year, Geingob also used the opportunity to thank the party members for the trust that they have shown in him.
He said the next president is expected to deliver on promises of employment creation, quality education for all, health facilities and housing, as these are the most important expectations of the nation.
So far, Geingob has already visited 13 regions where he met members of the party’s regional leadership to discuss the same topics in preparation for the elections.
He is expected to complete his consultation visits in the Omaheke Region next week.
Swapo national leader assigned to the Erongo Region Utoni Nujoma, Regional Swapo Party Coordinator Philipus Heita, Erongo Regional Governor Cleophas Mutjavikua and Swakopmund Mayor Juuso Kambueshe attended the meeting.
More than 200 members and supporters of the ruling party travelled from various towns in the Erongo Region to attend the meeting.
