WINDHOEK, 22 AUG (NAMPA) - This year's edition of The Namibian Pick ?n Pay Cycle Classic will take place on 11 and 12 October. The start and finish of the race is the Doc Jubber Hockey Grounds in Olympia. Speaking during the launch of the event by the Rotary Club Windhoek (RCW) on Thursday, Namibian Cycling Federation president Mannie Heymans said the Cycling Classic holds a special place in his heart, adding that it helps many newcomers to launch their competitive cycling careers. The money raised by the RCW during the event will be used to fund community service projects and programmes. The Rotary organisation was founded in the United States of America in 1905 as the world?s first volunteer service organisation, and since then it has expanded rapidly, with more than 1,2 million Rotarians now serving all over the world. The RCW, established in Namibia in 1953, supports people in need, and runs community service projects countrywide. RCW president Stefan Schultheiss said Rotarians the world over share a common value of giving back to their communities. (NAMPA) HK/ND
