SWAKOPMUND, 20 AUG (NAMPA) – The Namibian Police in the Erongo Region are searching for three men suspected of having robbed a Chinese businessman of a motor-vehicle and money at the Uis settlement.
Uis is located in Erongo’s Daures Constituency, some 196 kilometres north-east of Swakopmund.
On Monday between 18h00 and 19h00, the 51-year-old Jin Bo Lin was allegedly brutally assaulted and robbed of his Toyota double-cab pick-up, and more than N.dollars 35 000 in cash.
The suspected robbers, who stormed his business premises, allegedly also stole two cellphones, a pistol with live bullets and recharge vouchers worth about N.dollars 2 000.
One of the cellphones belonged to the victim, and the other to one of his employees.
Detective Inspector John Mwatongwe of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) confirmed to Nampa on Wednesday that the Force is using a helicopter to hunt down the suspects in the mountainous areas surrounding the settlement.
It is believed that the robbers have been trapped in the area due to the timely reaction of the police.
“We suspect they are hiding in the mountains, but we will hunt them down,” Mwatongwe stressed.
