KASOTE, 19 AUG (NAMPA) - A 69-year-old woman drowned in a stream at the Kasote informal settlement on the western outskirts of Rundu on Monday evening.
Her body was found floating dead in the stream by Kasote residents in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to a Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime report issued to Nampa on Tuesday, the deceased has been identified as Theresia Simpanda, a resident of that informal settlement.
The report quoted Philip Haingura, one of Simpanda’s grandsons who lived with her, as saying his grandmother was last seen at home on Sunday evening at around 21h00.
They do not know when she left the house.
He also confirmed that his grandmother had been mentally ill for some time now.
The police have opened an inquest into the incident.
