WINDHOEK, 18 AUG (NAMPA) - The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) is investigating the case of three children who succumbed in a fire at the Omumbonde village in the Ruacana area last Thursday.
The children were left alone at home by their parents, who allegedly went to a cuca shop.
NamPol Sergeant Slogan Matheus said during a media briefing in the capital on Sunday that it is suspected that the children were either trying to cook or playing with match sticks, and as a result caused the hut they were in to catch fire.
The incident occurred at about 15h00.
The trio were identified as Katabo Tjopondje,7; Dolina Tjimata, 2; and Shindandi Matheus Tuarinawa, 1.
“One child, aged three, managed to escape from the blaze unhurt,” he noted.
Their next of kin have been informed.
