JOHOR BAHARU, July 9 (Bernama) -- Kemelah Assemblyman Datuk Ayub Rahmat today took his oath as a member of the State Executive Council (exco) before the Johor Sultan, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, at Istana Pasir Pelangi here.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Rahmat's appointment brought to 10 the number of Johor state exco members.
Rahmat is given the health and environment portfolio, he told reporters after accompanying the sultan on a visit to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here today.
He said the appointment of the state exco was no longer based on the quota system.
"The appointment of Datuk Tee Siew Kiong (MCA-Pulai Sebatang) as an exco member is made by the Johor Sultan because the ruler wants a Chinese representative," he added.
