KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 -- Mimos Bhd, the national research and development (R&D) centre in information and communications technology (ICT), signed a memorandum of agreement with Sudanese Africa City of Technology (ACT) to establish a joint venture company aimed at nurturing Sudan's ICT industry.

Mimos president and chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Wahab Abdullah said the joint venture, targeted to be established in the first quarter of next year, would see the involvement of Mimos as a mentor to ACT by sharing its Open Innovation platform to help Sudan kick start its ICT industry.

"Mimos will provide the technology investment while ACT will take up the capital investment," he told reporters after the signing ceremony here today.
