KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is expected to announce the number of athletes selected for the 2013 Myanmar SEA Games in December after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
OCM honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said the council was still waiting for the competition rules booklet from the organising committee of the Myanmar SEA Games.
"We have submitted our commitment to participate in 29 of the 33 sports competed, before the June 30 closing date and still waiting for the competition rules from the organiser.
"They (organiser) have told us that they will be sending the necessary information by this week or next week. Once received, we will distribute the information to the respective national sports associations.
"After Hari Raya we will be able to know the number of athletes who will be going to Myanmar," he told Bernama when contacted, today.

Kok Chi added that since the rules and regulations of the games has not been released, it would be difficult to determine the number of athletes or give an estimated figure.
"I was made to understand that in combat sports for example, if 10 events are contested, each country would be allowed to take part in only six events. Therefore, we must see the rules of the competition before even making any assumption," he said.
Kok Chi said the four sports that Malaysia would not be taking part in the games that would be held from Dec 11 to 22, were wrestling, traditional boat race, kempo and vovinam (both combat sports).
The Malaysian contingent will be competing swimming, athletes, archery, badminton, basketball, billiard & snooker, boxing, canoe, cycling, equestrian, football (futsal), golf, hockey, judo, karate, rowing, sepak takraw (chinlone), sailing, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, wushu, bodybuilding, chess, muay, pencak silat, weightlifting, petanque.
