KL SHARES REMAIN HIGHER AT MID-MORNING

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning today boosted by persistent buying support, especially in blue chips, dealers said.

At 11am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,767.78, up 4.91 points after opening 4.15 points better at 1,767.02.

Market breadth was positive, with 323 gainers, 169 losers, 278 counters unchanged, 806 untraded and 16 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 503.32 million shares worth RM425.18 million.

On the scoreboard, the Plantation Index lost 3.74 points to 8,369.93 and the Industrial Index added 1.49 points to 2,988.29.

The Finance Index rose 71.92 points to 16,910.91 and the FBM Emas Index added 34.8 points to 12,324.7.

The FBM 70 Index increased 29.87 points to 14,201.16 and the FBM ACE Index rose 13.69 points to 4,757.65.

Among actives, Luster Industries and Asia Media gained half sen each to 11 sen and 16.5 sen respectively.

Malaysia Airlines which has introduced flights to Kochi, India, and reinstated flights to Darwin, Australia, rose one sen to 32 sen. As for the heavyweights, Maybank added 10 sen to RM10.40, CIMB increased one sen to RM8.25 and Axiata was flat at RM6.66. -- BERNAMA
